Laguna Beach is one of the most eclectic and charming communities in Orange County.  Located just south of Newport Beach and north of Dana Point, it also shares borders with Laguna Woods, Aliso Viejo and Laguna Niguel.  Pacific Coast Highway runs through Laguna Beach, however accessing major freeways can be a challenge, especially on tourist-packed summer days.

Originally advertised as a day-trip for visitors to the 1932 Olympics that were hosted in Los Angeles, local artists worked hard to make Laguna Beach a jaw-dropping scene filled with parades, markets places and art galleries. Their spirited effort lives on today as tourists and residents alike fill downtown Laguna Beach’s galleries, shops and unique cafes.

Laguna Beach is home to two annual festivals that offer visitors a glimpse some of the incredibly talented artists that call Laguna Beach home. The first event, Festival of the Arts displays work by local artists and has transformed from a way for the community to survive to a world-class event. The festivals main attraction, Pageant of the Masters is an elaborate living picture show in which actors, inspired by classical artwork, transform into breathing renditions of the pieces that must be seen to be believed.

The Sawdust Festival, located across the street from the Festival of Arts buildings, is unique in that it allows professional or amateur artists the chance to exhibit their creations. Both have a rich history that has helped shaped the Laguna Beach of today.

Laguna Beach neighborhoods are built among the steep hillsides offering serene views of the sparkling Pacific Ocean. You won’t find any cookie-cutter neighborhoods here, and taking a trip through any Laguna Beach neighborhood will give you a visual treat of home in various styles of architecture, sizes and colors.

Laguna Beach is served by the Laguna Beach Unified School District. It is comprised of two elementary schools, one middle school and one high school. There are several private school options as well. Laguna Beach is also home to the Laguna College of Art and Design, which can be easily recognized by the giant sculptures located on Laguna Canyon Road.
